The rain is pouring down, the wind howling and nights are drawing in and the announcements from Oracle are coming fast and furious. It could be the weather or it could be that Oracle Open World is around the corner.
One announcement that's of interest to me (and hopefully you) is the release of ADF Essentials. This is a free (to develop and deploy) version of the Application Development Framework that can used to build JavaEE applications running on WebLogic 11g, WebSphere 7, Glassfish 3.1 (all supported) and other JEE servers. There's a few features of the full framework that are not included but it still represents a full stack MVC framework that's complimented by productive tooling in JDeveloper. More details are available on OTN.
